Black Cat Halloween card for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #21

Hello crafty friends,

While orange and black may be the first color combination you would think of for Halloween, this week's board had one color that I find very appropriate for Halloween - purple!  Team X is back with more inspiration to get you started and we sure hope to see you participate in our challenge!  Visit it here.

This week I went with the middle row across for my inspiration: purple - open - sequins.

I had the perfect sentiment on hand to go along with the always fun Crazy Cats set from Tim Holtz and away I went to create an easy to replicate Halloween card because sometimes just getting it done quickly is the way to go.

I used a black and white patterned paper for the first layer (cut at 4.25" x 5.5"), then added a strip of purple cardstock cut 3.25" x 5.5" after stamping it with a cracked pattern in black ink.

The cat was die cut from the matching die set and colored in with Zig clean color brush markers in shades of gray to dark gray.  Normally I would use Copics for this type of thing, but this worked just fine as it was.  I used standard 80 lb white cardstock rather than watercolor paper and added no extra water as I colored.

I stamped the sentiment with Versamark at the top of the purple panel, then added white embossing powder and heat set.

The die cut cat was glued on the purple panel under the sentiment, then I added purple sequins in random places.  You could leave off the sequins or replace with an embellishment of your choice.

As a finishing touch, I added cobwebs - the same that you buy for home decor (open element) to the card around the edges of the panel and used spray adhesive on the back of the black panel to secure the web before adhering down to my A6 (4.5" x 6.25" finished) white card base.  It's best to use a box to spray the adhesive into so you don't get it on unintended surfaces.

Supplies used are linked below.  Affiliate links are used in some cases at no additional cost to you should you use them to purchase any items used in this project.   All supplies used here were personally purchased.

If you use Pinterest I have an additional image (below) perfect for adding to your own board(s) so you can always find this project again.

Before you go check out all the inspiration from Team X, please be sure to let me know what your favorite Halloween activity is.

Happy crafting,

Teresa
