Tulip field birthday card for So Suzy Stamps

Hello crafty friends,

Has this crazy winter weather left you dreaming of an early spring?  I definitely am over the cold weather!

Tulips are one of my all time favorite flowers and today I'm using one of my most favorite stamps from So Suzy.  I had the vision of a tulip field from Holland in mind as I worked on this design with a beautiful sky above and set out to make that scene on my card.  Here's a gorgeous photo of a real tulip field to ohh and ahhh over.   This is the inspiration for my design concept other than I went with a pastel color theme.

In order to get a continuous line of tulips at the bottom I stamped the first bouquet in the center with Versamark, applied the embossing powder and heat set it.  I stamped onto masking paper then fussy cut around it in order to stamp the bouquet again on each side.   Again I added rose gold embossing powder and heat set.

I watercolored the tulips using regular distress ink colors, mainly because they are so easy to use.  You swipe some ink onto a surface and used my Kuretake water brush pen to apply the color.  The colors are listed at the end of the post.

My sky was done using the cloud stencil from My Favorite things.  I used a sponge tool to blend tumbled glass distress ink, moving the cloud stencil a few times and changing the direction to get a varied look.

I stamped and heat embossed the Happy Birthday sentiment with the same rose gold embossing powder.

To complete the card I adhered it to a white note card size base, which is a finished size of 4.25" x 5.5"

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Don't forget there are still some sales going on in January and you get a free sentiment stamp with every order through the end of this month!
