Layered Stamping Technique | Video Tutorial

Hello crafty friends,

Today I'm sharing an exciting new discovery - at least it is to me!  I watch what amounts to a crazy amount of creative artist videos on YouTube.  I can honestly say I have never seen anyone do this exact technique.  Hopefully it's something that will help you if you do any layered stamping, even if it is not a flower.  For instance Hero Arts is one company I think of that also does a lot of layering stamp sets.

Funny Birthday Cake Card for So Suzy Stamps

Hello crafty friends,

Don't we all like a good laugh?  This punny sentiment is perfect paired with the simple birthday cake stamp.

Here's a photo tutorial on the background I made with a stencil, Distress Oxide (new color Mermaid Lagoon!) and Caribbean brights Color Bursts, which is a powdered watercolor medium.

Free classes

Hello crafty friends,

Did you know that offers free classes from many well known creators in the industry?

I've compiled a list of some that I thought would be appealing to cardmakers in particular, however there is also a general link to all the offerings in the list below.

Triangle Collage Card

Hello crafty friends

Lately I've been having a bit of an Altenew crush going on.  Today's card is from their latest release.  While Altenew is mainly known for their awesome floral stamps (to which I already added one from the same release) they had this really neat geometric stamp and die set that I could not resist.  I could see it being adapted to a wide variety of cards whether feminine or masculine.  I wanted to use both stamps and dies on this card but not take up a lot of time with the coloring aspect.

Tic Tac Toe Challenge #35

Hello crafty friends,

Time for a new challenge board!  I went with enamel dots - plaid - baby for my inspiration card.  If you have yet to play along in the challenge, I encourage you to jump in!  My sister recently adopted a very special baby boy and I'm going to go see her this weekend!  So I had her in mind when I created this card.

Basket of Strawberries Valentine's Card

Hello crafty friends and Happy Valentine's Day!

I have a really sweet card with this sweet basket of strawberries utilizing 4 small stamps from So Suzy Stamps - a strawberry,  XOXO and the Love You sentiment.  I used a multiple stamping technique to add big impact.  I made the basket from strips of paper - yay for creating your own embellishments!

Stacked die cut shaker - Video Hop with prizes

Hello crafty friends,

I have a technique to share that I thought up on my own, or at least at this point I have not seen anyone else do this exact thing before.

If you love shaker cards but don't like all the work involved with adding pieces of foam tape, etc. etc. then you may find this an easier way to do this with certain dies.  The ideal die is one that has both separate openings but is enclosed on all sides.  The one I used today isn't exactly all closed, but it wasn't too difficult to work around that and still not have to use double sided foam tape cut in a million little pieces.

Think of any of those cover plate dies you have already - you may be able to adapt this to those dies.  For instance the Queen Company offers lots of dies intended for shakers but you usually have to buy their foam kits in order to create more cards.

CAS love card - dies & watercolor

Hello crafty friends,

Popping in for a very quick post - I was very excited to receive my order of Altenew bold alphabet dies and just "had" to use them right away!

Before die cutting the letters, I stamped a piece of watercolor paper with a Hydrangea stamp from Winnie & Walter several times with a variety of blue, lavender and pink Marvy Uchida watercolor markers (as well as a few others from Recollections, which also worked just as well).  You swipe the marker over the stamps then after stamping use a watercolor brush to move the color.  I did not spend a ton of time on it since I was going to die cut the letters out of it afterwards.

Elegant Valentine's Day Card

Hello crafty friends,

Today's card is one of those times where I had to experiment with different colors before I settled on this gray/silver monochromatic color scheme.  I tried silver on black, but after things started coming together, the gray and silver version became more appealing.  That's the interesting thing about the creative process, sometimes you think you will like it better one way then you change your mind :)

Heart shaped floral card for Tic Tac Toe challenge #33

Hello crafty friends,

Welcome for another round of the Tic Tac Toe challenge!  This week's board inspired me to create a love themed card with the main idea being creating cards for family or friends who might be far away.  I have a very special person in mind to receive this card - my mom.  I used a variety of different products which ended up working very well together in the end result.
