Bluebonnet Card - Tic Tac Toe Challenge #45

Hello crafty friends,

April is fast coming to a close and I could not pass up this opportunity (as a native Texan) to share the Texas state flower as the star of this card.  Admiring the bluebonnets in spring is one of my favorite things.  I have so many personal photos of family among these beautiful flowers.  I went on a weekend trip to spend with very special friends I've known since first grade and made it a point to stop by this lovely shop, Stamp Salado.  It's always an adventure to see a new shop and find new crafty toys!

I found some really beautiful Texas themed stamps in the shop.  One of the designers is Texana and the other is Deadbeat Stamps.  Texana designed stamps are in limited supply because the original artist passed away.  Stamp Salado is one of the few places with stock from this brand.  Another brand I found there is Deadbeat Design Stamps, which is the bluebonnet image I used on this card.  The "Hi Y'all" sentiment is by Texana.

This is the tic tac toe board for this week - pick a row and have some fun with it along with Design Team X - I went with the top row:

I kept this card pretty simple.  Starting with a 4.25" X 5.5" piece of white cardstock, I inked up the stamp using water based markers in blue and green so I could control how much color to add and where on the stamp.  After stamping the first time in the lower side of the middle, I used a water brush to move the color into the petals and stems of the flower.  I stamped a couple more times to each side (no masking) and colored as before.

I die cut out the center with an oval die, then popped up the center as a panel.  I added some white/silver twine to fulfill the metallic element of the board.

I can't wait to see what you do with this at the Tic Tac Toe Challenge - please do try to play along and post to the gallery!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by.
