Halloween Card - Crackerbox & Suzy challenge

Hello crafty friends,

It's halfway time through the current challenge over at the So Suzy Stamps blog!  As you can see from my photo below the theme is Halloween.  This card was very simple to do - please keep reading below to learn more.

Masking is the trick to this card, but it's nothing too time consuming.  I used computer labels that are removable as my masking paper.  I made sure the overall size of the mask was as big as my entire card front, then die cut a circle out of the center of it large enough to have space around the branch and cat I stamped later.  I placed the positive piece of the mask (i.e. the circle) on the center of a piece of white cardstock.

Next I ink blended the following Distress Oxide colors (Wilted Violet (lighter) and Concord Grape (darker) with a mini ink blending tool to create the purple background.  I used Black Soot around the edges and into the corners to create a vignette look.  Once this was complete I removed the circle mask and put on the negative piece of the mask to cover the purple area I had just inked (after making sure it was dry).

I used the Distress Oxide colors (Squeezed Lemonade and Wild Honey) to blend the yellow area to create the glow of the moon.  I chose yellow because the cat stamp has "eyes" that show the color of the background and that way the cat's eyes would be yellow.

I stamped the branch and cat stamp next with the mask still in place with black ink.  I removed the mask.

The sentiment was stamped with Versamark, then I added white embossing powder and heat set.

That's all there is to it!  I hope I have inspired you to come play along with us and hope to see you in the gallery!
