While it's taken me a little longer than expected to get this done, I hope you will find the results worth the wait. If you are new to my blog and like what you see here you will also want to check out this post covering how I created the background die cuts using stencils. Here are 7 projects I completed after using stencils and the Brother Scan N Cut 2 to create these electronic die cut backgrounds.
I have also put together a short video showing the combination of products I used above. My main goal is to get you thinking about what you have in your stash and using this technique to create. If you do decide to give it a try I would be thrilled if you'd tag me where you share on social media. If you use hashtags please consider adding #whimsicalcardstudio to your post so I can find it. Linking back to my post would also be appreciated as well.
Here are the close ups of each project, then the video will be towards the end of the post
First up is this stunning congrats card using a patterned paper behind the die cut and accented by purple and gold sequins from a Hero Arts monthly kit that I've hoarded and used here and there for my extra special projects. I used the Catherine Pooler swoop stencil, Dare 2B Artzy's congrats die, and patterned paper from Bo Bunny to layer the light lavender die cut on top of.

Next is an encourage themed card with a watercolor style patterned paper. (note: Sales of the One Day at a Time stamp set from Reverse Confetti benefits The Pink Fund, an organization that supports those going through breast cancer treatment(s). The large flower stencil used is from Hero Arts. I only used a portion of the die cut, covered by vellum and fussy cut so the die cut is actually on top of the die cut, allowing me to easily stamp the sentiment with Catherine Pooler Sugared Lavendar ink. I accented it with some Nuvo jewel drops in Pale Periwinkle
Next is a floral card featuring one of newest Altenew build a flower sets, called Japanese Mum. I now get the monthly build a flower kit so it arrived in time for me to use in this project. The Kite flaming foliage stencil looks like leaves so it made a great background.
I grabbed a lot of my favorites products, both older and newer just because it's fun to combine products in new ways. this stencil is from a past Hero Arts kit that I loved the moment I saw it. Once I die cut the shape from silver glitter paper and layered it over Tonic mirror cardstock I saw a match made in heaven. The Concord & 9th lucky stars stamp and die set were perfect to pull this card together. The stamp set has been discontinued, however the word die set is on the last chance page as of the time this post went live.
I know there are lots of folks out there who love mermaids and this shaker card paired with a Copic colored mermaid image from Honeybee Stamps Under the Sea set paired with beautiful Tessler specialty paper in the purple shade. Used some Hero Arts acetate behind the scallop die cut to create a shaker window. I die cut a frame using Hero Arts infinity dies. Last but not least some shaker bling from HAI supply rainbow sprinkles and Little Lucy's Things Princess shaker mix. That particular mix is no longer available so here's a beautiful alternative in the Simon Says Stamp shop.

I am such a sucker for all things related to the beach, ocean, etc. The cascading scallop stencil from My Favorite Things made the perfect die cut pattern for the mermaid card above as well as the two cards below. I really loved the version where I used both the positive and negative parts of the die cut (on the left hand side) to create a split background. I die cut the Octopi out of the new release paper from Dare 2B Artzy's new "Seas the day" collection. Did you know that D2BA sells dies that cut out the images from both the patterned papers as well as the stamped images? The cute sentiments from the coordinating stamp set will likely be used in many of my future projects.
Here's the video showing off these projects
