Thank you card with Minion Carl + Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps Anniversary Sale

Hello crafty friends,

Hope you had a wonderful weekend wherever you are.  Now that it's Spring I want to create bright and happy cards.  I considered all the ways I could have made a colorful background without too much fuss and decided that a quick watercolor background would do the trick.  I used my Clarity stencil brushes, water in a spray bottle, and a piece of watercolor cardstock.

Note regarding affiliate links:  where possible I use links where I may earn a commission through your purchase using the links.  As a member of some design teams and affiliate programs, I am provided some products free in order to showcase them on my blog.  More details about the stores, teams, etc. are all on my disclosures page.  The stamps and Clarity Brushes were provided to me as a Design Team member.  Other products shared were personally purchased.

Before I start with the breakdown of the process I also want to share that there is special anniversary sale going on this month at the C&S store - everything is 20% off plus other specials.  There is even a lovely floral stamp you can get for FREE if you place an order of $50 or more.

Process for background:

I used the textured side of a piece of Ranger/Tim Holtz Distress watercolor cardstock - I prepped the surface by spraying a light coating of water all over the paper.

Next I used the largest Clarity stencil brush to pick up color from the following Catherine Pooler colors and swiped back and forth across the card, going in a rainbow order.

Limoncello, Tiki Torch, Grass Skirt, Fiesta Blue and Flirty Fuschia

After applying all the colors I sprayed more water over top so the colors would spread out more and soften into each other.

Once dry, I trimmed the panel down to 3.75" x 5"

Minion image:

I stamped and colored  the Minion image using the following Copic colors:
Body: Y13, Y15
Eye: Y28
Jeans B45 (which I purposely did not blend to make them have a textured look)
Shoes and gloves: C7
Goggles: C7, C3
Inside of mouth: R89 (inside of mouth) and RV10 on the tongue.
I used a white gel pen to create a dot on the eye

I then die cut the colored image (with Brother Scan N Cut)

Black frame:

Starting with a piece of black cardstock at least 4.25" x 5.5" I used two rectangle dies from the Hero Arts infinity nested rectangle set to create a frame.  The larger die measures approximately 4"W X 5.25" and the smaller die is two steps down from the larger.  place the two dies on top of the cardstock and use low tack tape to hold them in place before running through the die cut machine.

Assembly of card:

Used white 110 lb cardstock to create a side folding A2 sized card base (cut full sheet in half in portrait position, then score at 4..25" and fold over - use a bone folder to reinforce the fold)

Add liquid glue or adhesive of your choice to the watercolor panel and glue onto the center of the card base.

Glue the black frame on top so it frames the watercolor panel

Stamp the sentiment at the top - I temporarily placed the minion die cut on the card so I could determine where to put my stamp.  Since I used the textured side of the cardstock, I used my MISTI to ensure that I could stamp more than once if needed.  I used Versafine Black onyx ink and stamped the sentiment twice.

Attached a wobbler mechanism to the back of the die cut image then press down onto the center of the card panel.
