Hello crafty friends,
Sometimes I crave a card with a large focal point, so that it makes the cardmaking faster but still with stunning results. This project is also featured on the Rinea blog
here. The die set I used is a Sizzix Tim Holtz Tattered Poinsettia Bigz die with a coordinating embossing folder. This is a classic die that creates a 3D flower in a couple of steps.
The die cuts 3 sizes of flower petal sets. I cut 3 from Ruby/Gold Glossy foiled paper and only the largest set from Emerald/Gold Glossy foiled paper. I ran the red sets through the coordinating embossing folder to give the petals the veined appearance. With the green layer, I only used hand pressure to give it some veining.
I also created a thin frame using two nesting rectangle dies from the Hero Arts infinity nesting die set from the Ruby/Gold flossy foiled paper. I die cut the sentiment from the same paper using an Impression Obsession die. since the poinsettia is a large focal point, I intentionally chose a more delicate die.
Favorite tip: Use Press N Seal to pick up the frame and sentiment after placing it on the card front, flip it over and apply adhesive to the frame. This makes it so much easier to apply a very delicate die cut.
Now the only thing left is to glue the petal and leaf layers together to form the complete flower. I used gold Nuvo drops to create the flower center. The die does include a piece to create a center - this is just a personal preference thing.
Thank you so much for stopping by today. Below is the shopping list if you'd like to use the same dies and foiled papers on a similar project.
