Hello fellow crafters!
I took my inspiration from the colors and the general theme
of making 2017 happy. I chose some
shimmery blue and a stylized wave pattern cardstock as my two layers. I really love creating interactive cards and
decided to make this one a shaker card with little “windows”. It did take a few tries before I got this to
look just like I envisioned, so suffice it to say, I learned a lot with this card :)
I started by running the Essentials By Ellen Stitches Cover Plate die over the shimmery blue cardstock, leaving some extra room on all
sides. Next I prepared to add the window
cutouts by preparing a grid from some thin washi tape to make sure everything
lined up correctly.
I then used the 1.5” Die-namics Stitched Square to cut out
the window flaps. The picture shows how
I lined up the top cutting plate to avoid cutting the full square out.
Next I cut 4 white squares with the 1” Die-namics Stitched
Square to place over the window flaps. I
stamped each of the numbers with Versamark ink and embossed with silver
embossing powder. Next I prepared the
area that would hold the beads for the shaker portion. I used my Cricut machine to cut fun foam to
the right size so that the beads would stay separate in each of the little
windows. I then glued acetate over the
back of the “windows” and glued on the fun foam piece before filling with beads
and gluing on the patterned paper to close up the shaker windows.
For the “sentiment” I heat embossed several single words
from the Honeybee sentiment builder set on clear 30# vellum, attached
with pop dots and to cover those, embellished with enamel dots on top of each
corner to coordinate with the cardstock colors.
I am so glad to be part of this fun challenge – to see more

Cheers and Happy 2017 to all,
Teresa
