Today I am very honored to do this guest design post celebrating
3 years of So Suzy Stamps!
I fell in love with
this beautiful dress stamp and wanted to create something elegant with it – in
addition to the pastel version I made another card with a striking
black/white/hot pink color scheme (which is pictured further down).
The first card is a vellum layer on top of a custom made
background using a nail polish water marbling method using bright colors. I stamped the dress onto the vellum with
Versamark and embossed with a sparkly pink embossing powder with chunky pieces
resembling sequins.
Since the vellum stamped piece did not stand out enough against
the background, I used a medium pink alcohol marker to color on the reverse
side of the vellum (on the stamped area only) to add more color and depth. I added a swirly rhinestone sticker
embellishment to the skirt on the dress and a couple more single rhinestones, which made it look Oscar worthy (in my opinion J).
Before attaching the vellum to the marbled background, I
added a decorative edge to one side using a Martha Stewart edge punch so that
some of the beautiful marbled background showed a bit at the side.
(To see a little more information on how the background was
created, you might want to check out this post)
Next I stamped the sentiment onto a separate piece of vellum
and embossed in white before flipping it over and coloring the backside of the
vellum with a yellow alcohol marker.
I finished the card by gluing the finished panel to a white
A2 sized 110# card base.
The second card was done similarly as far as the stamping
and embellishing, except this time in a sparkly black embossing powder on black
& white striped cardstock. I added a
small hot pink vellum strip to the left hand side and a smaller silver strip at
the seam.
The sentiment was stamped in two steps. I masked each part of the stamp using post it tape and then repeated the process masking the other half the second time so it was on two pieces of paper and I could place it so not to cover up the dress. The "confidence" stamp is popped up with foam tape and the other part is stamped onto vellum. As a final embellishment I added a couple of black feathers tucked under the first part of the sentiment. I used a bit of hot glue to secure the feathers to the card at the other end.
Again I layered this onto an #110 white A2 sized card base
to complete it. I can envision this
stamp being used to create a rainbow of different dresses and it would be perfect
for a “would you be my bridesmaid” or wedding themed card.
