Remake of Olesya's "Sweet Things" card

Hello crafty friends,

Today I am CASE'ing a card made by my So Suzy DT member Olesya Kharkova - I admired this sweet square card and hope I do it justice with my version.

Here is my take on her card:

Here is a side by side view:

Steps to make the card on the right:
(links to products used are at end of the post - affiliate links are used in some cases)
  1. Stamped the ranunculus outline stamp several times onto Bristol Smooth cardstock in Versamark, added white embossing powder and heat set it. (tip:  always stamp more images than needed in case you have one or more that don't turn out then you can pick the best ones for the card)
  2. Using Yellow and Scarlet Red from the 60 marker set of Zig Clean color markers I used a direct to paper method (added a little color on the paper, yellow in the middle and the scarlet red color on the outside, then used a watercolor brush to blend from the outside towards the center.  this way I get the brightest color result without using a lot of water.
  3. Die cut the flowers using Brother scan & cut machine - they can easily be fussy cut as well.
  4. Stamped the leaf stamp several times onto white cardstock with Versamark ink, added green (Recollections Pesto) embossing powder and heat set.
  5. die cut the leaves as in step 3 with the flowers
  6. Die cut the largest square from this My Favorite Things die set from green & white patterned paper
  7. Cut a card base 5" x 10" from 110 lb Neenah solar white cardstock, folded in half to create a square top folding card base
  8. Glued pattern paper onto separate piece of white layering weight (65#) cardstock cut to 5" x 5
  9. The gold strip under the flowers was made with gold washi tape.  To create the look of a thin strip and thicker strip I put the tape onto white cardstock, then used a paper trimmer to cut off a  thin strip.  Glued down the thin and thicker piece of washi onto a piece of cardstock, separating the pieces.  Glued down over the patterned cardstock and trimmed at the edges of each side to make them line up at the edge on each side.
  10. arranged flowers and leaves, put a piece of low tack adhesive tape over top, flipped the group over, added liquid adhesive and placed over the gold washi strip.  rearranged as needed to get the leaves and flowers in final position.
  11. Stamped the sentiment (using the MISTI) in black in over the patterned paper.
  12. Glued the decorated card panel onto the prepared card base.
  13. Added a few Nuvo jewel drops as additional embellishment.
Don't forget this week a sale going on in the friendship category at So Suzy Stamps plus there is a free stamp with every order - the one for April is shown below (3rd photo down).  Perfect to add to the Coffee Cup stamp from February!
