Simple Birds on vellum for So Suzy Stamps

Hello crafty friends,

Hope you all had a relaxing weekend!  It's been a busy May for me.  It's my birthday month, my mother's birthday month and my best friends birthday month, not to mention Mother's Day!  I have wanted to use this stamp for awhile and hope that you like what I did with it as much as I do.  I did not have a lot of time to spend, so I wanted to be smart about the time I did have.

My team-mate Olesya Kharkova designed this lovely stamp and it has been popular amongst the rest of the design team from what I can tell.  While it may not look like it at first, I stamped on vellum and used white embossing powder as the starting point.

I used an oval die to die cut around the stamped image, then colored the back of the birds and foliage with Copic markers.  I used a lot of yellows, blues and turquoise colors on the birds.  I used a little gray on the bird on the left which I will call the female vs. the male bird on the right, which I colored a little brighter.  Nature has decided male birds are more colorful in general, but I did not allow this male to outshine her "too" much -- ya know what I mean?

The vellum is glued directly on top of a yellow subtle patterned paper die cut to the same  size.  I used a cover die to add interest on top of a solid white A2 card base.  The die cut needed some color in my opinion so I used a small dauber to add some Distress Oxide in Worn Lipstick in a vignette type pattern.

I used spray adhesive on the die cut before laying in onto the card base.  I also used spray adhesive on the vellum panel on top of the yellow cardstock.  I did not have an idea in mind for what occasion to add a sentiment for, so for now I've let it be a beautiful card front and will customize the inside later.

The final touch is sequins glued on in random places around the frame to finish it off.   Products used are listed below.  Affiliate links are used which allow me to make a small commission if you use them to purchase items used in this project.  For further details on my affiliate relationships, please see my disclosures page.

thanks so much for visiting today!
