Pet Sympathy Card - Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps new release

Hello crafty friends,

On August 11th the new release from Crackerbox & Suzy stamps came out with a nice variety of new stamps.  One of the most requested stamps is for sympathy cards for the loss of a pet.  While not a fun type of card to create, it is good to have some options for when you need such a card.  I created a background for my card using a new stencil to the store with lots of paw prints.  Since the background is pretty colorful and busy, I kept the stamped image simple by doing it in black ink on white cardstock and die cut around it with a circle die.

I placed the stamped die cut onto some foam adhesive to give it some dimension and a little separation from the background.

The technique behind the background is not very complicated at all.  I added ink directly onto the surface of the stencil with a few blue and green Distress inks, then misted it all over with water.  Next I laid the plain white cardstock on top of it and let it sit about 30 seconds to absorb the color.  I dried the ink with a heat tool.

To add more interest I placed the stencil on top of the already inked paper and used spray mists in similar colors to the inks so you see the paw prints both in white and in other places it's in color.  It's not hard at all to do and is another way to use stencils to make a unique background.  I also added splatters of black ink after drying this second layer of color.  I trimmed my panel to create a matted effect on top of my black card base.

The inside of my card I used one of the sympathy sentiments to add a message.  Again I stamped black ink on top of white cardstock.  I die cut the stamped image and glued down to the inside of the card.

The image on the front of the card can also be used with other pet-related (not necessarily sympathy) that are available at the Crackerbox & Suzy store.  This month all animal themed stamps have a 15% discount so you may want to take a look while the discount is still available.
