I know it's been a while since I last posted. I thought it was a great time to share some cards for the cooler season to come. I say "to come" because it sure hasn't in Texas. I pulled out my alcohol inks and made one large background before cutting it up to create these bright earthy colored cards. I am sharing the process of creating an alcohol ink background on a larger sheet of Yupo and ways to enhance the backgrounds after the inks are dry.
I just love the look of an alcohol ink background - so bright, glossy and perfect for a colorful card. Here are the up-close photos of each one individually. The video is below the photos and of course, at the end will be all the products used to create these cards.
Out of all the cards, the way the ink ended up is my favorite. Look at all the lovely swirls, circles, and edges where two colors come together. The leaves are stamped in (you won't believe it) purple archival ink. It turned out to be a great complement to all the other colors.
Next is the card where I used embossing ink when I stamped the images, then used gold gilded flakes to "emboss" over the ink. I love how this looks!
and last, but not least, I die cut a detailed background die from gold vellum over the top of the alcohol ink panel. I love how the vellum worked on all three cards. It added the hint of gold without overpowering the alcohol ink and allows you to still see some of the background.
And now for the video tutorial - hope you enjoy!!
